Founder and Director of New Horizon Innovation Ltd
I have always wanted to make a positive difference to the world and to the people around me, and I firmly believe innovation is the key process for doing this. I founded New Horizon Innovation Ltd in order to follow my passion; developing and empowering people to create a better future for themselves, teams and organisations
I graduated from the University of Durham with a Masters Degree in Aeronautical (General) Engineering. I’m also a Chartered Engineer, Fellow of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers and Member of the Institute for Innovation and Knowledge Exchange
I’ve had a varied career working in Innovation and R&D in different industries and sectors; Engineering Services, Power Generation, Aerospace & Defense, Software, Manufacturing, and Utilities. I held positions in large companies as a Technology Scout, and Head of Research and Technology.
However it was my passion for innovation that lead me to change career direction from managing technology to managing the broader domain of Innovation. I studied Innovation and Strategy Management at Cranfield Business School, and have been trained in Innovation Facilitation and Portfolio Management by some of the leading academics and thinkers in the field. I have also trained at Cambridge University in Roadmapping and Technology Intelligence, which allowed me to lead a team as the Head of Innovation & Future Technologies Watch.
Having worked in many innovation teams, I experienced that the most difficult barrier to successful innovation was creating an innovation culture and furthered my study in this area. I realised that the barriers to an effective innovation culture was the development of each individual in the team especially the leadership, and this aligned perfectly with my passion for developing others and my purpose of making a positive difference in the world.
Which brought me to today…. founding a personal development and innovation consultancy to create a better future.
